PROCEDURES FOR MAKING A CONTACT SHEET

1. Remove the easel from the enlarger base & place to the side.

2. Remove the negative carrier from the enlarger & place to the side.

3. Turn and/or push the timerŐs controls to ON, thus turning on the lamp in the enlarger.

4. With a practice sheet of photographic paper on the enlargerŐs base, raise the enlarger high enough and focus the light so that the circle of light comfortably encompasses the entire 8 x 10Ó sheet.

5. Set the aperture on the lens to F/11.  (On most of the enlargers f/11 is one click back from the dimmest setting -- f/16.)

6. Turn the light OFF and set the timer to 10 - 20 seconds (15 is most common).

7. Place an unexposed new sheet of photographic paper, shiny side up, in place of the practice sheet.

8. Place the negatives -- in the clear page of sleeves -- with the base side of the negatives UP on     top of the paper.

9. Carefully place a piece of glass on the negatives.

10. Make the exposure by pushing the timer button or flipping the switch.
