A ten day comprehensive course providing the Registered Nurse with an up-to-date refresher course to prepare nurses to re-enter the workforce. Topics will include: updates in pharmacology, cardiology, respiratory therapy, diabetes management, quality assurance, and Joint Commission standards.
Schedule of Events
The course includes ten days of didactic classroom lecture with afternoons dedicated to skills practice. The program includes assistance with developing satisfying practicum experiences to allow students to regain the skills and confidence necessary for nurses to re-enter today's workforce.
Day 1
Managed Care, Case Management, JCAHO, Quality Improvement, Physical Assessment techniques.
Days 2 & 3
Fluid & Electrolytes, Acid-Base Balance, IV Therapy, IV Access devices, Pulmonary.
Day 4
Chest trauma, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Cardiovascular Assessment, Cardiac medications.
Days 5 & 6
Heart Failure, Hypertension, IV insertion, Pancreatitis, GERD, Ulcers, Ostomies, NG tubes and Tube feeding, Hematology, Anemia.
Day 7
HIV, AIDS, Isolation, VRE, MRSA, Antibiotic therapy.
Day 8
Hematology, Oncology, blood transfusions, anemias, sterile and non-sterile dressing changes, skin care.
Days 9 & 10
Neurologic Disorders, Orthapaedics, DVT prophylaxis, Neurovascular Assessment, Palliative care, organ donation, DNAR, Living wills.
