Attendance Policy and Classroom Decorum
| Students are expected to attend all
scheduled classes in accordance with published Spring Hill College
Policies (p. 54, 2006-2007 Spring Hill College Bulletin of Information). Students
may be excused for approved college-sponsored activities, as well as
other valid reasons including health considerations. In
all cases, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the instructor
in advance or within 24 hours of the missed class or lab.
All other absences may be considered unexcused.
After two unexcused absences in either lecture or lab the student will be
warned. A third unexcused
absence will result in exclusion from the course. The
last day to withdraw from a course with a non-penalty “W” in the
fall is Wednesday, October 23, 2007 In the spring, it is Monday,
March 21, 2006. Please note that laboratories often require
extended preparation time for the instructor, so prompt notification of
excused absence will facilitate the student’s opportunity to make up
the missed laboratory experience.
Students are expected to be on time, awake, alert and with at least the appearance of interest. Use of cell phones is prohibited in the classroom, as is the use of iPods, cd players or other personal electronics equipment. These items should be turned off and stowed out of sight. Use of laptop computers is permitted as long as their use relates to class exercises. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in a warning (first offense) to expulsion from class (repeated offenses). |
