Course Description and Objectives:

Ecology (BIO355) is a study of the principles of ecology and applications to environmental problems in a modern society.  We will focus on the modern ecological concepts and on the methodology used in determining these theories.  There are a number of primary objectives to this course, as follows:

1.   Students will gain an understanding of modern concepts in ecology

2.   Students will experience how ecologists arrive at these concepts through the scientific method

3.   Students will apply these concepts to real-world environmental issues

Prerequisite: BIO102, Botany; BIO 104, Botany Lab, BIO205, 207 Invertebrate Zoology and Lab, Bio254, 256 Vertebrate Zoology and Lab, or their equivalent
