Course Description and Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an introduction to biology, ecology and evolution of the major invertebrate phyla.  In the laboratory, BIO 207, the anatomy of representative organisms will be studied

By completing both the lab and lecture courses, students will:

  1. gain an understanding and appreciation of the biology, ecology and diversity of selected representatives of the invertebrates, with particular emphasis on marine species;

  2. learn to make careful observations of the world around them and develop critical thinking skills;

  3. enhance their scientific writing skills

Prerequisite: BIO101-103, Principles of Biology
