                                    Director of Fine Arts, 1994-1999

                                   

                                    Revised curricula in Art Therapy and Art Business: currently developing

                                    new program in Graphic Design. Theater and Ballet are also included in

                                    this department.

                                    Teach courses in Design Fundamentals, Art Appreciation, Ceramics,

                                    Serigraphy, Textile Design, Creative Problem Solving, Senior Seminar.

                                    Organize installation of exhibits of student artwork. Coordinate with the

                                    art community to provide internship opportunities for students

                                    supervise student internships. Market Fine Arts courses. Advise

                                    student art majors. Serve on numerous college committees.

                                    Conducted long-range planning for the department which includes music

                                    as well as visual arts. Developed innovative curriculum in three

                                    areas, resulting in departmental growth from 2 to 38 art majors.

                                    Secured and administered Title III funding for the program; set up labs

                                    and purchased all equipment; managed budget. Hired/supervised two

                                    full time-and eight adjunct faculty. Worked with Admissions to market

                                    Fine Arts programs. Developed Visiting Artists Program; organized and

                                    arranged funding for series of lectures and workshops, and supervised

                                    installation of exhibits by visiting artists. Acted as liaison for

                                    maintenance and development of physical facilities, including planning

                                    for Fine Arts Center.

                                    Assistant Dean of Students, 1975-1977

                                    Conducted all long-range planning and coordinated activities of all

                                    personnel for the Student Life Division. Hired, managed, and trained a

                                    residence hall staff of 40. Developed a system of residence hall

                                    governance and a campus-wide judicial system. Developed women's

                                    programming and activities. Acted as a liaison for physical maintenance

                                    of dormitories.

                                   

                                    Julius T. Wright School, Mobile, AL 1967-1975. Private Girls

                                    Preparatory School. Developed a sequential art curriculum in

                                    grades K-12. Managed art budget, library acquisitions. Organized Fine

                                    Arts Festival, lecture series, and series of community wide exhibitions.

  1. Faculty Development Grant to study with Ed Lambert, nationally known textile artist, at Arrowmont School of Crafts.
  1. Faculty Development Grant to test new dyes on silk, resulting in a collection

of designs included in In Prints, an international exhibit of textile design.

1982 Only Spring Hill faculty member chosen to receive a Shell Grant for a

SERVICE       A coalition of some 12-15 Gulf Coast environmental groups. Organized diverse constituencies to work for common goals. With Alliance

                                    leadership, 7000 citizens participated in public hearings resulting in

                                    rejection of a permit to transport toxic wastes through Alabama waterways.
