Hi, I’m your friendly neighborhood reference/cataloging/ instructional emerging technologies librarian, Amanda Collins.
A graduate of the Spring Hill College class of 1996, I went on to get two masters degrees in English and Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama, graduating in 1998 and 2000, respectively. Since then I’ve worked as a customer service agent with Harrassowitz, a library subscription agent and bookseller, as a United States Federal Courts Librarian, a paralegal, and even lived in Toronto for a year before the cold sent me running back to warmer climes.
Outside of the library I love books, especially the ones that you don’t normally see inside of a classroom like mystery and romance novels. (Shhh…don’t tell the others.)
My scholarly interests include History of the Book (including Authorship, Publishing and Printing), Cultural Studies, and Library History. You can learn more about History of the Book, an emerging interdisciplinary field here.
If you’ve got a reference question, need to set up a Library Instruction session for one of your classes, or if you need help nagivating the labrynthine library home page, shoot me an email at acollins@shc.edu or give me a call at 380-3874. I’m here to help!
